It is impossible to talk about tea and not speak of England. The country's history with this noble beverage goes as far back as 1600. Historically in England, the traditional time for English tea was four or five o'clock and no one stayed past seven o'clock. Most English breakfast tea rooms today serve tea from three to five o'clock. The menu has also changed from tea, bread, butter and cakes, to include three particular courses served specifically in this order: Savories which are tiny sandwiches or appetizers, Scones served with jam and Devonshire, or clotted cream, and Pastries which are cakes, cookies, shortbread and sweets. Here are a few of our English teas, including English Earl Grey tea. |
